PTE Academic is a three-hour test and there are three main parts to the test that includes speaking and writing (together), reading and listening where you also have an optional 10 minutes break between the reading and listening sections. You will come across twenty different question formats, ranging from multiple choices to essay writing and interpreting information.

The overall PTE Academic score is based on the performance on all test items where each test taker is required to answer between 71 and 83 items in any given test with 20 different item types. For each item, the score given will contribute to the overall score and the score range is 10-90 points. It is important to note that the overall score is not the average calculation of the communicative scores.
The communicative skills measured incudes reading, listening, speaking and writing where items testing these skills test specific subskills. The item score contributes to the score for the communicative skills and the score range for each skill is 10-90 points.
Enabling skills are reported for test takers to understand areas of their strength and improvement that are summaries of test taker’s performance on different aspects of language that are scored in different item types. You'll receive an email notifying you that your Score Report is ready. Pearson aims to provide results within 5 business days. If you haven't received your score report after this time, you should check your spam or junk email folders and contact Customer Service if needed.
Yes, you can view your Score Report by logging into your My PTE Account. You can also download it in PDF format, but institutions will only accept it if verified through Pearson's electronic platform using the Score Report Code.
Your PTE Academic Score Report is valid for two years from the day of your test date. However, the Department of Home Affairs in Australia accepts scores even up to three years after your test date.
Yes, you can share your Score Report Code with institutions, or you can choose to send your Score Report through your account, which typically takes up to 48 hours. You can send your Score Report to an unlimited number of institutions, selecting up to seven institutions at a time, free of charge.
