Documents Required

You must complete the following steps before coming to the Consular Section for your interview appointment:

At first you have to fill the online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS 160. To complete the DS 160 form you must bring your 2*2 photo, I-20, valid Passport and other required information. You should schedule an appointment for your visa interview at the U.S Embassy. After you schedule the interview date you have to pay SEVIS fee a week before the interview.

You have completed the DS-160, you must take these next steps below:

  • Print and keep the DS-160 barcode page.
  • Pay the visa application processing fee($160)
  • You must schedule a visa interview appointment.

Once you schedule interview date then have to pay the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) fee which is cost $350. You must pay the SEVIS I-901 Fee a week before interview, which is a one-time fee for each program in which the student or exchange visitor participates.

Documentation to prepare to bring to the visa interview

  • Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in the United States.
  • Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-160 confirmation page.
  • Application fee payment receipt.
  • Photo: You will upload your photo while completing the online Form DS-160.
  • The I-20
  • Transcript, diplomas, degree or certificate from schools you attended.
  • Scores from test such as TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, GMAT or GRE

There is no guarantee that a visa will be issued. A consular officer can make a decision regarding the eligibility for a visa only after having reviewed the application and all supporting documents, and after having personally interviewed the applicants. Applicants are advised not to make any travel arrangements and not to leave any jobs until the visa has been issued. If the visa application is refused, applicants will receive the reason for refusal in writing. If applicable, the consular officer and the written document will explain what actions, if any, may be taken to overcome the refusal.
