Choose your University and Course
The very first step to studying in USA is researching your study options based on your interests and previous grades. The major factors that will help you narrow down your choices are what you want to study, where you want to live in USA, scholarships and financial aids offered and the costs.
When choosing a university in USA, it is important to determine its status as a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). Provinces and territories in USA approve or designate schools that can enroll international students which are known as designated learning institutions.

Apply to the University
Application Checklists for I-20
In order to apply to the selected university and course, you will require some official personal documents that includes the following:
Application Form: Complete application form should be submitted.
Application Fee: Depending upon the university, the application fee varies – for instance, USD 20 to USD 150. You can also request for the application fee waiver.
Official Academic Transcript: You are required to provide the official mark sheet/ transcript of your previous educational qualification.
Certificate of English Proficiency Test:
- TOEFL – Send the scores from Testing Agency free of cost (Must fill out institution code one day before the test at ETS Profile)
- IELTS– Get attested score report from British Council or Notary Public
- PTE– Get the hardcopy of report while applying
- SAT– Send the scores from Testing Agency free of cost (Must fill in institution code within 10 days of the test at College Board Profile)
- GRE/GMAT – Send the scores from Testing Agency free of cost (Must fill in institution code before 1 day of the test at ETS Profile)
- Duolingo– Send the scores from Testing Agency free of cost
- Statement of Purpose: A write-up introducing yourself, your interests, achievements, related experience, future- plans etc. This document should overall include the reason you’ve selected the particular university and the course.
- Recommendation Letter: Three different letters of recommendation from the subject teacher, Class teacher and Principal that you studied in your recent college. (Attest the photocopies from the concerned college)
- Bank Balance: Get Original “Bank Balance Certificate” for university you wish to apply to. The amount must be at least equal to ONE Year total expenses in the USA. NPR 40-45 Lakhs should be sufficient for all the Universities/Colleges.
- Sponsorship Letter / Financial Declaration Form: From parents (we will provide you with a sample) / some colleges have their own financial form and the student needs to fill it and provide the sponsor to sign it.
- Curriculum Vitae: For Graduate Students only
- Passport: A scanned of your passport is also required.
It will take 4 to 8 weeks to receive I-20.

I-20
After your application is submitted and you are selected, you will receive anI-20 from the University.
Upon receiving the I-20, you can simply proceed to the next step.

Apply for your Visa
Once you receive your I-20, you can then apply for your VISA.

You will need the following information and documents:
- 2*2 color photograph of the applicant
- Current Passport/Prior Passports
- I-20
- Date of Birth of Parents (A.D)
- Additional point of contact details (Not relatives/family members)
- Educational details (Present/Previous)
- Work details (Present/Previous)
- Details of Sponsor
- DS 160 fee of $160 (Rs. 19200/-) to be paid through Nepal Investment Bank
VERY IMPORTANT: SEVIS FEE of $350 (Rs. 42000/-) must be paid minimum 72 hours (3 days) prior to your appointment date.
SEVIS fee is valid for 1 year and you can transfer your payment from one university to another within the period.

After Visa
After your visa is approved, you are required to submit the tuition deposit. In addition, before starting your classes you will need to submit information on all vaccinations.
