Germany is fast becoming a top destination for Nepalese students seeking quality higher education. Thanks to tuition-free public universities and numerous scholarship opportunities, 2025 offers a great chance to study in Germany without breaking the bank. Top Scholarships for Nepalese Students in 2025
1. DAAD Scholarships
For international students the most common scholarship provider is the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). DAAD scholarships fully cover tuition fees, living expenses, health insurance and travel costs. Scholarships are generally available for Master’s and PhD programmes. Applications open generally in October each year.
2. Erasmus+ Scholarships
Erasmus+ helps students with joint Master’s programs in Europe (German universities included) to pay tuition fees as well as monthly stipends. You have to apply through your home university or Erasmus+ participating institutions.
3. Deutschlandstipendium
It’s a merit-based scholarship of €300 a month, offered by the government and private donors. Students apply via their universities.
4. Other Scholarships
Scholarships are also offered by various universities (for example RWTH Aachen, TU Munich and Heidelberg University, merit and need consideration).
Eligibility Criteria
Most scholarships will require the following: Excellent academic record, proficiency in English (IELTS/TOEFL) or German (TestDaF), a valid passport and an excellent motivation letter Some scholarships will also request volunteer work or experience.
