Which Countries Accept IELTS for Study Abroad?
IELTS is one of the most accepted English language exams for global education. If so, you might be left scratching your head about where to go for your study abroad from Nepal program. IELTS is accepted by universities in many popular places, but with varying requirements, depending on the university, course and study level.
Short Answer: Countries that accept IELTS:
IELTS is accepted for studies abroad by a number of universities in the UK, Australia, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany and other countries in Europe and Asia.
The IELTS Academic version is usually the appropriate version for study at university. But, the same band score isn’t required at all universities and courses. Be sure to review the admission requirements at the institution that you are interested in.
What is the reason why Universities accept IELTS?
IELTS is a test of four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. These results are used by universities to assess the applicant’s ability to follow lectures, read academic texts and to engage in discussions and complete assignments in English.
Others courses have a minimum IELTS band and a minimum in each skill.
1. United Kingdom
UK universities accept IELTS for bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
The requirements vary from institution and course to course. For programmes which require intensive communication, higher standards may be set.
Depending on the circumstance, some applicants may require an immigration-specific English test that has been approved.
For students who want to study at the UK universities from Nepal they should verify the medical condition for admission to various universities and the applicable visa condition in each university separately.
2. Australia
IELTS Academic is widely recognised by Australian universities as a valid course for international students.
The score required will vary according to qualification, university and programme. Some occupations may require better writing or speaking scores.
Prior to taking the IELTS test, students should check with the university for IELTS requirements for admission and with the relevant student visa for IELTS requirements.
3. Canada
IELTS Academic is accepted for admission by many Canadian Universities and Colleges.
The English tests and minimum scores accepted are at the discretion of individual institutions. Persons applying for admission should also check the existing study permit conditions as they are not related to their university admission status.
Don’t presume that a certain IELTS band score will be accepted by all Canadian universities.
4. United States
Other English tests are accepted by many universities in the USA as well as IELTS.
Admission is variable. Certain universities have an overall minimum; others look at each component score or offer other options in English-language programs.
Students who wish to study in the USA from Nepal must know about their target universities and degrees before they set their target IELTS score.
5. New Zealand
IELTS is widely recognised in New Zealand by universities and other education institutions.
Qualification level, institution and course vary the English requirements.
It is important for the students to check with their selected institution if their test is accepted and to check any English language evidence that may be required for their specific student visa application.
6. Ireland
Many institutions of higher education in Ireland accept IELTS Academic.
English requirements may vary between undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. Some courses may have a higher requirement due to academic or professional needs.

How Much IELTS Score is Required for Studying Abroad.
While it is a handy benchmark to suggest that an overall IELTS Band 6.0-7.0 is adequate for a number of international courses, it is not a strict requirement for all courses.
Certain courses will accept lower grades, but competitive or work-regulated courses might require higher grades.
Eligibility may also be impacted by minimum scores in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
Students are advised to check the official requirements of universities of their interest list before fixing their IELTS score and should compare these requirements.
