Accounting Major (BS)
When you earn a Truman undergraduate degree in accounting, you develop the analytical, research, communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills you need to thrive in the accounting field—from corporate to nonprofit to education to small business. As an accounting major, you start building connections through activities such as Meet the Firms and Career Week which bring employers to campus to recruit for internships and jobs.

Agricultural Science Major (BS)
When you study agricultural science at Truman, you explore your options through hands-on experience and research opportunities in the areas of horticulture and agronomy, pre-veterinarian medicine and animal science, equine science, and agricultural business. With the flexibility to choose the area of concentration that’s the best fit for your professional goals, you can gain specialized training while honing your skills in lab and field environments.

Biology Major (BA, BS)
As a biology major, you establish a broad understanding of the basic laws, principles, and current theories of biology from the cellular to the ecosystem level. After taking core classes, you can personalize your courses to fit your strengths and interests while developing the technical and analytical skills you need to succeed in the field of your choice.

Classics Major (BA)
When you pursue a classics major, you become acquainted with the literature, history, philosophy, art, and cultures of ancient Greece and Rome, and you can also learn two ancient languages —Ancient Greek and Latin. Your training as a classics major teaches you to look beyond your own cultural and historical assumptions to solve real-world problems. With the flexibility of classics program, many students choose to combine the classics major with another field of study.

Communication Major (BA)
Gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles that guide human communication in a fast-paced, ever-changing world. The Communication major prepares students for a wide variety of careers, graduate school, or law school. The program promotes the technical, creative, and critical-thinking skills necessary to become a professional in the field. It also assists students’ personal, professional, and civic development to prepare them to become citizen-leaders in their communities.

Criminal Justice Studies Major (BS)
As a criminal justice studies major, you examine how criminal law and institutions in law enforcement, courts, and corrections seek to provide justice. You become better prepared to respond to one of the greatest concerns of society – the problem of crime and our system of justice.

Entry Requirements
- Option One: Submit Official English Proficiency Scores: Truman requires a minimum overall score of:
- 79 for TOEFL (iBT)
- 6.0 for IELTS
- 110 for Duolingo
- OR another equivalent measure.
Official scores must be sent by your testing agency directly to Truman State University. You may also satisfy this requirement by transferring English Composition credits from a U.S. university. Waivers are available for U.S. citizens or students who have completed the majority of their secondary schooling from one of the countries on our approved list. Get more details here.
- Option Two: Apply as a Conditional Student: If you cannot provide proof of English proficiency, you may apply as a conditional student in your application. As a conditional student, you will be required to complete a Level 9 certificate in English language at The Language Company on the Truman Campus or an approved alternative ESL program in the United States before being fully admitted to Truman State. Please note: Visiting and exchange students are not allowed to apply as conditional students.

Intake
Fall, Summer and Spring
Fall Intake: This is the primary intake for most undergraduate programs and usually begins in August or early September. Spring Intake: Some undergraduate programs may have a limited number of seats available for the spring semester, which typically starts in January. Summer Intake: Truman State University may offer a summer session with a limited number of courses and programs available. Summer sessions usually start in May or June.

Truman offers a number of admission scholarships to incoming domestic freshman students. By completing your free undergraduate application to Truman, you are automatically considered for a number of Automatic Scholarship awards. Information on this site is for students entering Truman as freshman from Spring 2024 through Fall 2024.
TruMerit Scholarship

The Non-Resident portion of tuition for 2024 is estimated to be $8,400. Award packages for Non-Missouri residents are adjusted appropriately if the student becomes a Missouri resident. Out-of-State TruMerit, Non-Resident Tuition Waiver, Non-Resident Tuition Grant and MSEP are designed to assist the out-of-state portion of tuition and cannot be combined. Students eligible for multiple awards designed to assist with the out-of-state portion of tuition will receive the award of the greatest value. If awarded a tuition grant, other scholarships in your award package will be updated to reflect consideration as an in-state student.
Test Scores & GPA
Automatic scholarships are awarded based upon your cumulative GPA and college entrance exam scores (ACT or SAT) at the time of application. There is no need to make any special requests — when your GPA and ACT or SAT scores meet the award threshold, the Admission Office will automatically award these scholarships upon acceptance.

The best parts about scholarships? Many automatic scholarships and most competitive scholarships can be stacked and renewed. As a Truman student, you will simply need to meet the Scholarship Renewal Guidelines. Candidates may receive multiple automatic and/or competitive awards. Some larger awards may replace, or supersede, other awards. Scholarships are primarily intended to assist with the direct cost of tuition. Truman-funded scholarships apply only to tuition and on-campus room and meal plans; they do not apply to fees.

Planning to take the ACT after you have applied? Maybe you finished your senior year with your best GPA yet? We will continue updating the TruMerit Scholarship and Non-Resident Tuition Waiver awards throughout the year, reflecting your improvement in GPA and/or ACT/SAT scores. We will accept either the ACT or SAT through the June test date of your senior year and improvements to your final GPA can also increase your automatic scholarship awards.
